Rain

Open your eyes the alarm blurted,
Put it on snooze n my phone inverted.
Suddenly a loud sound shook me out,
Cursed my dad for his morning bouts.

It happened again and I rubbed my eyes,
This can't be my dad given his size.
Open your window and did so my hands,
Oh wow, Monday morning I'm treated to my favorite band.

A giant brush was twirling in the air,
Meshing it all with black with touches of white here and there.
Can only be an artist's work for the passion on display,
The gouache, the rhythm, the tone bring realism to the fray.

The water trinkets hang in the air,
As if to deny fun to the countryside mare.
Ahh that seductive aroma of the waiting earth,
Now Mr painter can't refrain from expanding canvas' girth.

Cometh down the dancing drops,
Circular,triangular,rectangular with no stops.
And soon they spread to where my eyes can run
Ohh what a show the artist has done,

I can't stop the urge to run out,
Be free, walk, dance, swim and when droplets reach lips, pout.
That child me is suddenly alive,
I run for my shoes and jacket and it's time to dive.

Suddenly I hear the dreaded sound,
It's deeper than a soldier's wound.
The reality kicks in , the freedom swishes away,
Time for donkey work in office fields and bray.

Smile

What if the sun didn't rise from east,
Or God was found to be beast .
What if earth was not found to be round,
Or prayers were nothing but mere sound.
What if gravity didn't just hold us here,
Or glue stopped holding the pair.
What if red stopped being the color of blood,
Or sorrows abstained from causing eyes flood.
What if moon wasn't the one which shone so bright,
Or the beliefs weren't just about being right.
What if everyone was born as an adult and not kid,
Or watching the waves wasn't the thing most splendid.
I wouldn't care much if all that happens,
Because I see in front of which all this dampens.
It's something which lightens up all in a while,
It's everything to me and love it's your smile.

Lost

And so sincerely he promised
With the magical touch of the soul
The hands seemed to be not noticed
Lost were the time and space and the whole

It was her part as she always claimed
Not extraneously available, not publicly seen
Friends tried, mortals fished, even angels strained
But the purity and joy of it could not be detached from her spleen

She found her new world
For every tree she was, he was its sunlight
For every carcanet she was, he was its gold
For every mendicant she was, he was its plight

It was no reason for her hopes to slacken
For she had dreamed and planned eternity
But the tick of the clock got shriller every second

For she waited for a man who was a prisoner of his lost soul
